Independent solar advocates
for homeowners.
We're an independent solar advocacy group based in Suffield, Connecticut. We serve homeowners across Connecticut, New York City, and Long Island.
We vet installers, walk you through the comparison, read the contract with you, and stay on your side. You decide who does the work.

Why homeowners choose SolarPro Lab
SolarPro Lab is an independent solar advocacy group. We vet installers and compare the options for homeowners, and because we know this industry from the inside, we recognize the misrepresentations and high-pressure tactics that lock people into 25-year contracts they never fully understood. Our job is to make sure you understand every term and every option before you sign anything.
1 call, 1 representative, options verified and simplified. No more buyer's remorse.
We're not exaggerating. See the public record:
- CT Attorney General sues Sunrun over deceptive sales and forged signatures (2024) (CT Attorney General)
- CT Attorney General sues Vision Solar over unfair and deceptive sales (2023) (CT Attorney General)
- $5M judgment against bankrupt Vision Solar (2024) (CT Attorney General)
- Pink Energy / PowerHome Solar collapse and multi-state AG complaints (ABC11 News)
- Vision Solar class action over non-working, defective systems (Top Class Actions)

Why this exists
I started SolarPro Lab because I watched too many people I knew sign solar deals they didn't fully understand.
The script was always the same. A salesperson shows up at the door or fills the inbox, walks the homeowner through a glossy proposal, and asks them to sign a 25-year contract before they've had a chance to compare it to anything else.
Half the time the panels are decent. Half the time the contract has an escalator clause buried on page eleven that doubles the bill by year ten. The homeowner doesn't find out until three years in, when the projected savings vanish.
That's the problem SolarPro Lab is built to fix.
What makes us different
Three things, always
The bar we set for ourselves, no matter the homeowner or the deal.
No product line to push
We don't sell our own panels, so we have no reason to steer you toward one installer over another. We compare honestly, and you decide who does the work.
We don't sell your data
Your information stays with us. It doesn't get sold to a dozen companies. The installer who reaches out is one we picked because we'd send our own family to them.
You pick
Every homeowner who works with us makes the call. We put the options in front of you, walk you through the trade-offs, and stay out of the way of your decision.
How it works
Two ways to work with us. You pick.
Either way, the installers in front of you are the ones we picked from our vetted roster. We do the vetting in both options. You make the final call.

Option A
Sit with our advisor
One conversation, in person if you're in CT and online if you're in NYC or Long Island. We walk through the best matches for your roof, your bill, and your timeline. We compare the equipment, talk through the financing math, and you decide who to move forward with.
If you sign, we read the contract with you first, walk through buyout windows, and follow up at year three.

Option B
Compare quotes from a vetted shortlist
We pick the best-fit installers from our roster and pass your information to them. They reach out, send you proposals, and you compare. You pick who you want to work with.
We don't pretend to advocate on a path where we're not in the room.
The honest answer
Is it free? Yes and no.
Yes
You never write SolarPro Lab a check. Our advice and the comparison process don't cost you anything.
No
Solar itself isn't free. It's a substitute for the electric bill you already pay. In CT and NY the average utility rate runs around 35 cents per kWh, and the solar payment usually lands 10 to 35 percent below that. You're swapping a higher bill for a lower one that builds equity in your roof.
Your dedicated advisor
One point of contact. The whole SolarPro Lab team behind it.
Every Option A homeowner is paired with a SolarPro Lab advisor who stays with them from first call through final installer pick. No getting bounced between reps. Backed by the installers we vet and stand behind.

The “Lab” in the name is on purpose: this is where the comparison process got worked out, the one I wish my neighbors had had access to when they were trying to figure out solar.
What we commit to, on Option A
- 1Read the contract before you sign it.We go through the document with you, in plain English, before any signature lands on paper.
- 2Flag escalator clauses and buyout windows. We walk through the buyout windows so you know exactly when and how you can own the system outright.
- 3Follow up when things need following up.If the install or service goes sideways, you get a real person, not a forwarded ticket.
- 4Year 3 Performance Check-in.We circle back at year three to walk through your actual production, your real savings, and any issues with the equipment or the company that installed it.
